WARNING: Some of you may find the following content disturbing and even offensive. I did not write it to disturb or to offend. I did, however, expect it to provoke and evoke a new perspective on the sayings and teachings of Jesus. Also, remember that I didn’t come up with the whole “eat my flesh” and “drink my blood” thing. That’s on Jesus… so let’s get on with it.

Here’s the premise…

What if the disciples actually took what Jesus said literally... and ate him?

Suppose that, after Jesus was taken down from the cross, the disciples recall and consider all the things Jesus taught them. Now, for our little illustration, let’s suppose they didn't hear Jesus' explanation of what he really meant by his “flesh and blood” so the disciples missed this:

John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh accomplishes nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

The only teaching and instruction about 'eating flesh and drinking blood' they know about is:

John 6:54-56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him to life on the last day, (55) because my flesh is real food, and my blood is real drink. (56) The person who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.

After Jesus was crucified, the disciples remember these words and are desperate to “have eternal life”. They immediately begin searching for some way to satisfy their hunger and thirst for Jesus - to “remain in [Jesus], and [Jesus] in [them]”.

So they take Jesus down from the cross, clean him, chop him up, put him in a pot and cook him, and serve him up in a true “last supper”. (Remember, I warned you it’d get disgustingly nasty.)

Then, a couple of days later, well… here’s how things went down…
