Love is the act of surrendering to the reality that “I” is ALL and ALL is “I”.

Huh? What the !#$% does that mean??!!

It means that the fundamental, universal, undeniable reality is that there is no distinction between “you” and all that exists in the universe.

But, I thought God is ALL and ALL is God.

Yep.

So, if God is ALL and ALL is God and “I” is ALL and ALL is “I” then you’re telling me that “I” is/am God!

Yes! And no. No, I’m not saying you are God - well… not really.

What I am saying is that you and God are the same, that you and God are one. But, don’t believe me - believe Jesus. Remember, I’m a Cannibal and I live strictly off the flesh of Jesus - the words he spoke. So, this is not some idea I came up with; it’s what Jesus said.

On the night before his crucifixion, we find Jesus and his disciples talking and praying after their (last) supper. Jesus tries to prepare the disciples for what would soon happen. He begins a long prayer… a really beautiful prayer. And right in the middle of it he makes this amazing request:

Joh 17:20-21 I ask not only on behalf of these men, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their message, (21) so that they may all be one. Just as you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be one in us, so that the world may believe that you sent me. (emphasis mine)

Just in case you didn’t grasp that entirely, let me parse it out - bit by bit.

First, he asks this not only for the disciples who are with him, but also “for those who will believe in me through their message”. That, my friend, means all believers (and Cannibals) from that night forward - including you and me.

Jesus’ next request is that “they”, the disciples in the room and all future believers, may all be one. So, we have all believers together as one - all is one and one is all.

Then comes the most awesome part of Jesus' prayer - that the same way “you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be one in us”. Jesus asks that the same relationship that he has with the Father, the same inseparable, inseverable union, the same all-embracing oneness, he wants us to be a part of all that! (BTW: When’s the last time you heard that preached in a church service?)

So, bottom line… we’re one with Jesus and one with the Father. And, the same way Jesus is inseparable and indistinguishable from the Father, so then are we. And, if God is ALL, then we are ALL… interwoven… indivisible… one.

So, what’s all this got to do with love?
